Dear Wetlanders..!!
"Jalaplavit" is a non-technical (popular) e-magazine about wetlands and their biodiversity. It is a voluntary initiative by Dr. Ketan Tatu (Editor) and Pugmark Qmulus Consortium (Designing, Lay-out and Computer work), Ahmedabad. The purpose of initiating Jalaplavit is to create awareness, inculcate interest and develop concern among nature lovers for wetlands and their biodiversity! It also aims at providing a platform for wetland researchers, wetland managers and wetland lovers, where they can express themselves in the form of articles/notes/pictures/ feedback etc. Usually, it will include informative and interesting articles/notes/pictures about wetlands and plants, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish etc that inhabit wetlands. Though the emphasis will be always on aquatic wilderness, it will not exclude interesting articles/notes/pictures regarding terrestrial species if some interesting phenomena of nature involving such species are related to wetlands. In addition, the magazine will also try to emphasize habitat and ecosystem values of wetlands. Whenever required, it will high-light wetland conservation issues. It is a bi-annual magazine and each year, one of the issues will be launched on/ around World Wetland Day (2nd February). Though lot of contributions and readership is expected from Gujarat and thus interests of Gujarat's nature lovers will be at the center, the scope of the magazine is not restricted to Gujarat. Quality articles/photographs/notes/feed backs from any one from India and abroad will be accepted if they serve the purpose of wetland popularization and conservation. Jalaplavit team has the inventory of nature lovers of Gujarat and India and PDF of each issue will be emailed to those nature lovers.
